Office Gynaecology

Some simple gynaecological procedures can be performed in the rooms, avoiding hospital admission for surgery. Such procedures include:

  • Mirena or Copper IUD insertion and removal – see our IUD info sheet HERE

  • Removal of vulval and vaginal lesions

  • Colposcopy (a careful check of the cervix after an abnormal CST), cervical biopsy or removal of small cervical polyps - these procedures are usually done in the rooms and do not require any anaesthetic.

Talk to your specialist if you have any concerns. Remember everyone is different and your pain relief needs may not be the same as someone else’s. Our specialists may give you the option of local anaesthetic in the rooms, or admission to hospital for a general anaesthetic.

Surgical Procedures

Once diagnosed, many gynaecological conditions can be cured or improved with conservative measures (i.e. medication, physiotherapy). If surgery is needed, our specialists will discuss this with you in detail so that you can make an informed choice.

Our surgical procedures include:

  • Hysterectomy - vaginal, laparoscopic, open

  • Pelvic reconstructive surgery (prolapse surgery)

  • Minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopy, hysteroscopy)

  • Endometrial ablation (Novasure)

  • Myomectomy

    • Open or laparoscopic

    • Hysteroscopic resection with Myosure – *coming soon*

  • Tension free vaginal tape for stress incontinence
